"Pops", Our January '00 Chef of the Month
Okay, okay, wild blueberries are not exactly in season in January, but, oooh, ladies.... better grab this one quick!! A guy who can cook like this doesn't come along just every day. Rumor has it that this bachelor who lives in a hand-build log cabin on the shores of beautiful Pickrel Lake sings a mean opera while angling for walleye. Maybe that's the secret ingredient to the recipe that earned him the title 'Best Walleye Fisherman on Deer Lake'.

Pop's Wild Blueberry Pie
2 pie crusts from the grocery store or home made
4 cups wild blueberries
1 cup sugar
3 T tapioca (the grainy instant kind)
Mix the sugar and tapioca with the bluebarries.
Put the berry mixture in the pie shell.
Put 3 or 4 dabs of butter on top of the berries.
Put the top crust over the berries and seal and flute the edges of the two crusts.
Spinkle cinnamon and sugar on top of the pie crust.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes.
Allow to cool and enjoy.
