Winnie, good luck hon. This ain't gonna be an easy time, girlfriend, but don't let that daunt you. Remember you have friends, you are not alone. Stay focused on what's best for you. Honor yourself and what you truly need. More than once in my life, I kept a dream on the respirator long past the time to pull the plug, you know? It never transformed the myths I held into a livable reality. Then too I can't count the times I held on to something familiar, even if it wasn't any good for me, just because I was afraid of the unknown. Fooling yourself 24/7 is hard work.
Jen, what is UP with that guy of yours?? He just split to do his own thing for SEVERAL MONTHS when you spelled out the risks to your relationship?? My ex, typical male (though in my experience THEY are the ones who can't function without a relationship to be in -- it's that Mommy Factor they never outgrow) left homefires maintenance to me too. I got tired of being the grown-up MARRIED half of the couple. You DO get set in your ways when you know what you want--there's nothing wrong with that (or with justified whining!!) Some guys just can't let go of an identity that never matures despite age and experience--not to mention more realistic commitments they should be tending to. Girls? Anybody with a similar experience? How did you handle it?

Gabby, your friend who thinks we live predestined lives sounds like a Freudian analyst I had once who tried to convince me we are all nothing more than a mixed bag of infantile patterns and drives we can't escape. I escaped my analyst, lol!! And I believe with my whole heart and spirit that life is too full of choices and decisions, both delicious and dangerous --any of which can change your destiny in an instant--for any of us to just be walking through a script written by someone or something else!!!!
