| It was a great experience to travel with 15 people...8 adults and 7 kiddos. Obviously, there was a lot of give and take. It was a wonderful time. We have known each other for years. Interesting that you too thought it unusual. When I have told people this..many say "Wow I don't even have 15 friends! To have a friend you have to be one. You can't cut yourself off or think that you are so exclusive or special that you can't be bothered. I'll give you my philosophy on friendship...ready? I'll probably be long winded. First there are acquaintances in life...these a people who pass through...maybe someone from work you lunch with. Or a fellow soccer Mom...granted these can blossom into something more than just acquaintances. But usually they stay in a certain sphere of your life. You usually meet only at this common ground...the friendship rarely branches out..it can...but it is rare. Then there are friends...these are the people you have much in common with..stations in life, where you are and where you are going. They are women and men. You share many of the same characteristics...financial background, love of music, reading..whatever. You debate politics and religion. I have a lot of these in my life...from many places and times of my life. I love brining them all together...many of my friends have now become friends this way! Finally there are the best friends your best buds...you may have 1 or 2 or if you are very lucky 3! Male and female. You don't have to see each other daily weekly...it's just a bond that is so strong you can pick up where you left off a year ago. You laugh and cry together. You help each other through good times and bad. Good times being the birth of a new baby...bad times finding out when that baby is autistic at when he is 3 months old. And still making the best of the situation. You worried together at 20 when you didn't get your period for obvious reasons and you worry again now at 40 when you didn't get your period for not so obvious reasons. You worry about the promotion...you want them to get even if it means they will move 1,000 miles from you. You can sit over dinner together, you bring something to the table and go home feelig renewed. I need these people and the more of them in my life the better. And I guess thats why I'm part of this group...I like people and I like having them in my life....no man is an island! | |||||||
